Kitchen Red Oak Flooring Install Begins

On Monday work started on my kitchen floor. As I mentioned in my earlier post, I am having Red Oak installed. Here’s what the floor looked like Monday:

Yesterday, they laid the plywood, then the underlayment and then they started to lay the red oak. It looks great. The transitions between the old flooring and the new flooring are nice and smooth.

They also tested out a couple of types of polyurethane to see what best matched my existing flooring.

1 - Oil Based Polyurethane 2 - Water Based Polyurethane 3 - Water Based 'Street Shoe'

I think I am going to go with the Oil Based Polyurethane since it best matches the other floors in the house. I can’t wait to see the final results!

–Update–

Here’s an updated post about my red oak kitchen flooring.
