My house is over 80 years old, so there isn’t a lot of built-in lighting. I have slowly accumulated lamps over the last two years, but lighting is expensive.
I’ve had this particular floor lamp for a while. It was found curbside by my parents’ house. It’s a heavy, well-made lamp. At some point, someone re-painted it a flat brass color, but the coverage was not very good.
I decided to spray paint it black and put it in the living room.
I re-arranged the living room (or should I call it a library) to the green chair has a view of the front yard. The room is starting to come together, but it still needs a few finishing touches.

That looks great! I would have never thought to use black, but it really gives it presence with all the other bold pieces. Love it!
This is going to be a great room. I like the way the black of the floor lamp picks up the black sculpture of the horse. Don’t forget to add some red as you build the room. That will make it cozy in the winter and it will compliment the rug. Nice!
